NET-ZERO CARBON WHISKY PRODUCTION BY 2030

As we keep walking towards a brighter tomorrow, by 2030 all production of Johnnie Walker whisky will be net-zero carbon and we’ll be using 100% renewable energy across all our direct operations.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re looking at everything ‘from grain to glass-in-hand’ to see how we can be better including helping our farmers and grain suppliers adopt new practices that’ll see them achieve gold accreditations in the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative’s widely-respected Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA).

By 2025 our Red Label and Black Label bottles will be made by using at least 60% recycled glass.

By 2030 all our glass bottles will be made using at least 60% recycled content. These actions will save 13,000 tonnes of carbon.

By 2030 any plastic used in our packaging or marketing materials will be made from 100% recycled plastic. Today, all plastic in our gift packs is made from 100% recycled plastic.

In life and in whisky-making, water is our most valuable resource. We’re going to use 20% less water during our production process – while maintaining our whisky’s exceptional quality.

Lighter bottles = smaller footprint. We’re making our glass bottles up to 25% lighter, except for Red Label and Black Label because they’re already very light.
