The Penicillin cocktail is a modern classic with truly global roots, invented in 2005 by an Australian mixologist working in New York.
Served in a tumbler, topped off with aromatic bitters and a hint of sweet, spicy ginger liqueur – the Penicllin has since become a bartender favourite.
INGREDIENTS:
• 45 ml Johnnie Walker Black Label
• 15 ml ginger liqueur
• 22ml 1:1 honey syrup
• 22 ml lemon juice
• 2 dashes aromatic bitters
METHOD:
1. Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients.
2. Shake
Shake hard for 5-7 seconds to mix the ingredients.
3. Strain and serve
Strain and serve the mixture in a tumbler with fresh ice. You can use serveral cubes, or a single large one – or even an ice ball.
4. Garnish
Add a slice of fresh ginger to garnish.
