Until mid-October, we are trialling a first-of-its-kind 70cl paper-based bottle for Johnnie Walker Black Label, exclusively at our rooftop 1820 bar. We’re testing 250 bottles in the trial, working closely with the bar team to understand how it performs and pours in a bar environment.

Created in partnership with PA Consulting, as part of the Bottle Collective with PA and PulPac, our innovative new paper-based bottle is 90% paper with just a very thin plastic liner, making it approximately 60% lighter than our glass bottle equivalent with up to a 47% potential reduction in carbon emissions (1). At Johnnie Walker, we're exploring a number of different ways to reduce our carbon footprint through new packaging formats, bottle design refinements, removing excess packaging and considering alternative materials. Expertly crafted by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Emma Walker and renowned Japanese Chef Kei Kobayashi, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami is a unique blend that showcases the enigmatic flavor of Umami. A Japanese word used to identify the 'fifth taste', Umami possesses mysterious qualities.

Using their years of experience, these two masters of flavors created a beautifully balanced Blended Scotch whisky of sweet and savory flavors, with notes of blood oranges and red berries with sweet wood spice, a touch of smoked meat, a hint of salt and pepper with a long, sweet fruit finish.

Blending one Scottish icon with another, we have created a limited-edition, experimental blend exclusive to Princes Street. This whisky has been distilled using craft and heritage, finished in American oak casks in the cellar of this very building.

Intertwining the worlds of whisky and fashion, this partnership with Harris Tweed Hebrides has also produced a range of luxury items, all crafted using our very own Johnnie Walker tweed fabric design.
