The 1860s are drawing to a close and the British Empire is booming. In a brilliant stroke of
entrepreneurship, the Walkers cut a deal with ship captains: for a share of the profits,
they would transport the iconic square bottle onboard their vessels bound for the far ports of the Empire.
Through this ingenious distribution channel, our whiskies were introduced to discerning
customers across the four corners of the globe. Johnnie Walker had soon won awards from
Sydney to Paris, staking its claim among the world's first truly global brands.
